IB English — Language & Literature Programme
IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) · Grades 8, 9 & 10
Online & Offline Classes | Mumbai (Offline) · India · UAE · Qatar · Saudi Arabia · Singapore (Online)
The Classcapades IB English — Language & Literature Programme is a carefully designed course for students in Grades 8, 9 and 10 who study English under the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP). The programme builds the full range of skills assessed by the IB — analytical reading, structured writing, creative text production and accurate, expressive use of language — in a way that is both exam-smart and genuinely enriching.
IB MYP Language & Literature demands far more than reading comprehension and grammar. Students are assessed on their ability to analyse literary and non-literary texts critically, to organise ideas into well-structured written responses, to produce original creative and analytical writing with a clear sense of audience and purpose, and to use language with accuracy, sophistication and flair. These are skills that must be developed progressively — and that is exactly what this programme is designed to do.
The IB MYP Assessment — Four Criteria We Master
CRITERION A Analysing | Scored 0–8
Identifying and analysing the effects and purposes of language, structure, technique and style in literary and non-literary texts. Students examine how writers create meaning and how context shapes interpretation. The cornerstone of all MYP literary study.
CRITERION B Organising | Scored 0–8
Structuring ideas and arguments in a coherent, purposeful and logically sequenced manner. Students learn to use organisational conventions appropriate to the task — whether an analytical essay, a comparative response or structured creative writing.
CRITERION C Producing Text | Scored 0–8
Creating original literary and non-literary texts with a clear sense of audience, purpose and context. Students develop the ability to write imaginatively and persuasively across diverse forms — from narratives and speeches to articles and analytical commentaries.
CRITERION D Using Language | Scored 0–8
Demonstrating accuracy, fluency and sophistication in written and spoken English. Examiners reward control of grammar, vocabulary, syntax and style. A strong command of language elevates performance in every other criterion.
